We appreciate your input and, unlike most resume services who choose the layout for you, we allow you to request a certain layout from our SAMPLE FORMATS. We can even make minor custom edits to the design template for you, per your request! Your writer may advise a certain layout to better suit your particular career path, however, we want our customers to be part of the resume process, so the decision is ultimately up to you!

WHY CAN'T I USE ONE OF THE FREE RESUME BUILDERS ONLINE?

You will also have the option to add a phone consultation, expedited service, and/or LinkedIn service.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I PLACE AN ORDER?

After you place an order, you will fill out a short questionnaire and upload any relevant files, including your former resume or any work-related evaluations. You will be contacted by email (or phone if you added a phone consultation) within a day or two if the writer needs any additional information. You will also be provided an email in order to contact your writer in case you have any questions. You will receive your first draft within three business days (or sooner if you've added expedited service) so you can consult with your writer, via email, to make revisions over the next week. If you've added LinkedIn service, once your resume is finalized, you will receive a LinkedIn profile document from which you'll be able to copy and paste the information into your existing LinkedIn account.

DO YOU PROVIDE RESUME CRITIQUES?

We do not provide resume critiques, per se, because most resumes have the same issues: too wordy, not wordy enough, unappealing layout, too many duties versus tasks, etc. Your writer will express to you what and why they changed certain aspects of your former resume when you consult with them during the revision period.

YOUR $99 RESUME PACKAGE CONTAINS A COVER LETTER, THANK YOU, AND FOLLOW-UP LETTERS? HOW IMPORTANT ARE THESE? DO I REALLY NEED THEM?

Absolutely! Most resume services charge an extra fee to add these services (i.e. $50 and upwards for a cover letter), however, we deem them so important, we included them in our service. Employers are so busy, most only glance at the cover letter. If it doesn't catch their attention, they won't even look at the resume! Our professional writers craft the cover letter in such a way that your most important achievements are front-and-center, to make sure they're not missed by potential employers.

When it comes to Thank You and Follow-Up letters, the same rule applies. Employers are inundated with resumes and interviews every day. A Follow-Up letter or a letter to thank them for an interview might be just what it takes to set you apart from a sea of potential candidates ... and may be the extra special touch that lands you the job!

I ALREADY HAVE A DECENT RESUME THAT JUST NEEDS TO BE UPDATED TO REFLECT MY MOST RECENT POSITION. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE RESUME OFFERED IN THE $99 RESUME PACKAGE AND THE $70 RESUME EDITING SERVICE?

If you have a resume that just needs an update or two, along with a design facelift, the resume editing service may be the right choice. We will update your current design as well as your work/educational history. We will also add a career summary (if needed) and provide accompanying cover, thank you, and follow-up letters. If, however, the writer sees additional areas that could benefit from rewriting, they may suggest you upgrade to the full resume package. This decision, of course, will be yours to make.

IF I PLACE AN ORDER, IN WHAT FORMATS WILL I RECEIVE MY DOCUMENTS?

We provide the resume and accompanying materials as Word documents, so they are easy for you to edit, as necessary. PDF and plain text documents are also available, upon request.

WHAT IF I'M UNHAPPY WITH MY FINAL RESUME?

At Smart Owl Resumes we want all of our customers to be 100% satisfied with their new resume. Although our revision period is three drafts over the course of one week, we will work with you longer, if necessary, until you are thrilled with our service.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

Customers requesting a refund within 3 hours of placing an order will receive a full refund. After that, your order will be assigned to a writer who will begin processing your first draft, and unfortunately, we are unable to issue a refund at that point. We do offer a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, however, and will rewrite your resume until you are completely satisfied with the document(s).

Absolutely! We understand every person is an individual who has specific preferences. If there is a particular resume format we offer which really catches your eye, there is an option to request it when you place your order. You may even request some minor customization in the questionnaire--turn the gray background to light blue, etc. We are always adding more templates, too, so be sure to check our SAMPLE FORMATS regularly.
